Cookie Policy
Cookies are how a website remembers things. This page lists the kinds of cookies aesdetailing.com uses, explains what each kind is actually doing, and shows you how to turn off the ones you do not want. It is written to be read, not to be scrolled past.

This policy is a starting draft prepared for Auto Aesthetics Mobile Detailing. It is not legal advice, and it has not been reviewed by an attorney. It requires review by counsel before launch.
What Cookies Are
The plain version
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to hold onto, so that the site can recognize your browser the next time it sees it. That is the whole trick. It is what lets a booking form remember what you selected two clicks ago instead of starting over, and it is also what lets a traffic report tell one visitor from another.
First-party and third-party cookies
A first-party cookie is set by the site you are actually on, which here means aesdetailing.com. A third-party cookie is set by a different company whose tools are running on the page, which here means Square and Google. We can turn ours off. Theirs behave according to their own settings and their own policies, and we point you to those below.
The other technologies that work like cookies
Browsers also offer local storage and session storage, and tools sometimes use small tracking pixels or tags inside a page. They do slightly different jobs but raise the same question, so wherever this page says "cookies" it means those too. Naming only cookies while quietly relying on local storage would be a technicality, and technicalities are not what a policy like this is for.
The Categories of Cookies This Site Uses
Strictly necessary cookies
These keep the site standing up. They handle your session, protect forms against spam and abuse, remember your cookie choices so the banner stops asking, and run the Square booking embed while you are moving through it. They are on by default and you cannot switch them off through our banner, because without them the pages and the booking flow stop working correctly.
Analytics cookies
These count and describe visits. We use Google Analytics 4, delivered through Google Tag Manager, to see which pages people read, how they arrived, and where they gave up. That tells us whether the ceramic coating page is answering the question people came with or whether it is losing them halfway down. It is traffic measurement, not surveillance of you as a person.
Advertising cookies
We are not running remarketing today, so advertising cookies should not be present on this site as of the last updated date above. If we start advertising and remarketing becomes part of it, this section gets rewritten before those tags go live, not after. That order matters, and it is a commitment about how we intend to work.
Why Each Category Exists
What the necessary cookies do for you
Almost all of this is invisible when it works. Your booking session stays intact while you pick a service and a date, the form you filled out does not get thrown away because you switched tabs, and the site can tell a real visitor from a bot hammering the contact form. Turning these off would not make you more private in any meaningful way, it would just break the booking.
What analytics tells us, and what it does not
Analytics answers business questions: which pages bring people in, which ones lose them, and whether the money spent on marketing produced a real customer. A small detailing business that cannot answer those questions ends up guessing, and guessing gets expensive. What it does not do is tell us who you are, and we do not try to connect a browsing session back to a named person.
Why the advertising category is listed at all
Listing a category we do not currently use looks odd until you consider the alternative, which is quietly adding it later and hoping the page gets updated. Naming it now sets the expectation that this page changes before the tags do.
The Third Parties Involved
Square
Our booking and payment flow is a Square embed. Once you interact with it, Square sets its own cookies to keep your booking session working and to handle payment securely, and those are governed by Square's privacy notice rather than by ours. We do not receive or store your full card number at any point.
Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager run on this site, and Google's own cookies and identifiers come with them. Our Google Business Profile also sits inside Google's ecosystem, so clicking through to it hands you off to Google entirely. Google publishes its own privacy policy and documents how Google uses data from sites that use its services, and those govern what Google does with what it collects.
Our host, our forms, and our phone
The site is hosted on managed WordPress with BigScoots, whose servers keep standard access logs. A form plugin handles what you submit through the quote form, and a call tracking service may swap the phone number shown on the page so we can tell which page produced the call. Each of those can set a cookie or use browser storage to do its job.
How to Control Cookies
The banner on this site
The first time you arrive you will see a cookie notice with your choices in it, and you can reopen it later from the link in the footer to change your mind. Strictly necessary cookies stay on regardless, because the site cannot run without them.
Your browser settings
Every major browser lets you block cookies, delete the ones already stored, or block third-party cookies specifically, and those settings sit under privacy or security in the browser's preferences. Browser controls are broader than our banner, since they apply to every site you visit rather than just this one.
Turning off Google Analytics specifically
Google publishes a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics measurement across every site that uses it, and the link is below. That is the cleanest route if analytics is the part you object to and you would rather not touch anything else.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Browsers send a Do Not Track signal that no common standard ever defined, so most sites, including this one, cannot act on it in any consistent way. Global Privacy Control is the newer signal and California treats it as a valid opt-out request, so if your browser or extension sends it, we intend to honor it as an opt-out of any sale or sharing of your personal information.
What Happens If You Refuse Cookies
What keeps working
Reading the site works fine. Every page, every price explanation, every description of how we do the work, and the phone number itself are all there whether or not you accept a single optional cookie. Nothing about the content is gated.
What may stop working properly
The Square booking embed relies on cookies to hold a session together, so blocking cookies outright can leave it unable to complete a booking. If that happens, call (607) 341-0037 or email [email protected] and we will book you the ordinary way, by talking to you. A blocked cookie has never stopped anyone from getting a car detailed.
What we lose
Blocking analytics costs us a little visibility into which pages are doing their job, which is our problem rather than yours. It does not affect your quote, your price, or your place in the schedule in any way.
How This Fits With Our Privacy Policy
Where the rest of the detail lives
This page covers the cookies. Our privacy policy covers everything else: what the quote form collects, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and how to ask us to delete it. The two are meant to be read together, and neither one repeats the other at length.
If you are a California resident
Your CCPA and CPRA rights, including the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, are set out in full in the privacy policy along with how to exercise them. As of the last updated date above, we do not sell or share your personal information, and if that changes both pages change with it.
Changes to This Cookie Policy
When this page changes
Any time we add, remove, or swap a plugin, an embed, or a tracking tag, the cookies on this site change, and this page is supposed to change in the same breath. That is the maintenance commitment, and it is the reason this content lives on its own page instead of inside the privacy policy.
How to tell what is current
The "Last updated" date at the top is the version marker. If a change affects what is collected or who receives it, we will say what changed rather than swapping the text quietly.
How to Contact Us
The two ways to reach us
Email [email protected] or call (607) 341-0037, Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Auto Aesthetics Mobile Detailing is a mobile service with no public storefront, so email is usually the faster route for a question about this page.
If the banner itself is broken
If the cookie notice will not close, will not reopen, or will not save your choice, that is a bug on our end and we would like to know. Send us the browser and device you were using and we will look at it.
This policy is a starting draft and is provided for information only. It is not legal advice.
