Inside and Out, One Visit

The cabin, from the back seat forward

A full car detail starts inside, at the back of the vehicle, and works toward the front so we never drag dust over a seat or panel that's already clean. Doors and seals, cupholders, the dash, vents, screens, the steering wheel, seats, pedals and carpets all get steam and hand cleaning before the final vacuum.

The exterior, from the wheels up

Outside, we start with the wheels, wheel wells and tires, treat bugs and buildup where they've collected, then foam, contact wash, rinse and finish with a ceramic spray sealant. We dry the vehicle with a blower and towels, recheck the wheels for brake dust and apply tire shine.

Two inspections before we hand it back

Each half of the job ends with its own check. Inside, we look under every seat for crumbs and at every screen and window for prints, and outside we check the wheels, fender wells, windows, gas cap and door jambs, the places a quick wash leaves for you to find later.

The AES Method, Step by Step

One method for every detail

The AES Method is how we run every detail: 14 steps inside, 14 steps outside and a final inspection, done in the same order each time. A full detail runs both sequences in one appointment.

Inside your vehicle, back to front

  1. Blow out the vehicle with an air compressor.
  2. First vacuum to lift the bulk of the dirt.
  3. Steam and clean the back doors and seals.
  4. Clean the back seats and cupholders.
  5. Move to the front.
  6. Steam and clean both front doors and seals.
  7. Steam and clean the cupholders, dash, vents and screens.
  8. Steam and clean the steering wheel and driver area.
  9. Steam and clean the driver and passenger seats.
  10. Steam and clean the pedals.
  11. Clean the windows, screens and any chrome or glossy trim.
  12. Steam clean the carpet and floorboards.
  13. Final vacuum.
  14. Clean the door jambs.

Working back to front means the front seats and dash, the parts you touch every day, are cleaned last and stay that way while we finish.

Outside your vehicle, wheels first

  1. Rinse the wheels with water.
  2. Apply wheel cleaner and let it dwell for 30 seconds.
  3. Rinse, foam with pH-neutral soap and agitate.
  4. Clean the wheel wells, barrels, tires, wheel faces and lug nuts.
  5. Rinse again.
  6. Apply degreaser or bug remover where it's needed.
  7. Pre-rinse the vehicle.
  8. Foam the vehicle and scrub bug spots.
  9. Rinse off the bug residue.
  10. Foam again and contact wash.
  11. Rinse and apply ceramic spray sealant.
  12. Rinse and dry with a blower and drying towels.
  13. Check and dry the wheels for leftover brake dust.
  14. Apply tire shine.

Wheels come first because they hold the heaviest grime, and cleaning them before the body keeps that grime off panels we've already washed.

Where you'll see the difference

The steps that set the result apart are the slow ones: steam on the seals and vents, the door jambs after the final vacuum, the wheel barrels and lug nuts rather than only the wheel face. Those are the spots you notice a week later when you open a door or load the trunk.

Our Final Inspection

The final check: wheels and tires looked over for brake dust before we hand the vehicle back

Inside the cabin

  • Under every seat for crumbs.
  • Every screen and window for fingerprints.
  • The cracks and crevices of the seats, doors and cupholders for dust and debris.

These are the places that give away a rushed interior job, so we check them on purpose before we call the cabin done.

Outside the vehicle

  • Every wheel for brake dust.
  • The fender wells for leftover dirt.
  • Every window for streaks.
  • The gas cap and the door jambs.

You can run the same walkaround yourself when we finish. If anything catches your eye, point it out while we're still there and we'll look at it with you.

How Long a Full Detail Takes

About three to four hours

A full car detail takes about three to four hours on a typical vehicle. Size and condition move that number, so a large SUV with pet hair in the third row runs longer than a sedan that gets cleaned regularly, and we'll give you an expected time when we quote your vehicle.

Machine wax and polish

If you'd like more gloss than the ceramic spray sealant gives, ask for the machine wax and polish upgrade. It adds about an hour to the appointment and is a finishing step, separate from paint correction, which is the service for swirl marks and scratches.

Add-ons for the cabin

Pet hair removal, seat and carpet shampoo, and odor removal are available as add-ons when the interior needs more than the standard sequence. Tell us what you're dealing with when you ask for your quote and we'll tell you which, if any, makes sense.

Is a Full Detail Right for You

Full Detail

Choose a full car detail when both the cabin and the exterior need attention, for example before selling, after a long winter of salt and slush, or when the vehicle simply hasn't had a thorough clean in a while. One visit, both sequences, both inspections.

Interior or Exterior on Its Own

If only one side needs work, the single-side services follow the same steps you see above. The interior detail is the cabin sequence and its check; the exterior detail is the wash sequence and its check.

Paint Correction and Ceramic Coating

A full detail cleans the paint and leaves a spray sealant on it. Swirl marks and light scratches call for paint correction, and longer-term protection is a ceramic coating, each with its own preparation and process.

Keeping It Clean Afterward

Once your vehicle has had a full detail, a monthly maintenance plan keeps it there with shorter visits, and costs less per visit than booking a full detail each time.

Full Detail Questions

What's included in a full car detail?

Both of our 14-step sequences in one visit: the interior worked back to front with steam cleaning and two vacuums, and the exterior from the wheels up with a contact wash and ceramic spray sealant. Each side ends with its own inspection before we leave.

How long does a full detail take?

About three to four hours for a typical vehicle. Larger vehicles and heavier dirt, pet hair or stains take longer, and we'll give you an expected time with your quote.

Do I need to be home during the detail?

Ask us when you request your quote. We need access to the vehicle and its interior, and we'll confirm the arrangement with you.

Do you need my water or electricity?

No. We bring our own water and power.

Will a full detail remove scratches or swirl marks?

No, a full detail cleans and protects the paint but does not level it. Swirls and light scratches are a paint correction job, and we're happy to look at photos and tell you which service fits.

Can you get pet hair and odors out?

Yes, pet hair removal and odor removal are add-ons to the interior part of the detail. Mention them with your quote request so we can plan the extra time.

How often should I get a full detail?

It depends on how you use the vehicle. Many drivers book a full detail at the change of seasons, and if you want it kept clean between those, our monthly maintenance plans cover that with shorter visits.
